The Oculus team were approached to find solutions for redeveloping the 12 storey tower block formerly known as Elenor Rathbourne house. The building was previously used as sheltered accommodation for the elderly but over the years had suffered from under funding and as a consequence dilapidation. Oculus provided the guidance and expertise in re-modelling the interior and providing the building with a new image and rebranding. The site was designed to contain a tower block with 48 refurbished studio flats along with a front 2 storey building comprising 10 flats with 5 different variations of 1 and 2 bedrooms. The new entrance contains a bespoke steel canopy with inset solid timber fenestration and toughened glass entry doors. The leisure facilities include a multi purpose gymnasium, whilst a reception area with lounge space provides the communal entertainment area. The surrounding landscapes have also been designed to provide areas for picnicking and general leisure use whilst also benefiting from security CCTV and generous parking provision.
The flats are available for short/medium term tenancies and marketed to businesses as a more comfortable alternative to hotel living. http://homes.trovit.co.uk/for-rent-highgate-avenue-heights
